Le jour où... le Faux Pas (2)

The day... Faux Pas (2)

As promised here are the swatches for Faux Pas. This nail polish is part of the autumn collection "Theatre of the Nameless" by Illamasqua. It is described as a bue violet with a rubber finish. The collection is inspired by the "boot girls", prostitutes in the 1920's Berlin who used to indicate their "speciality" by wearing colored shoelaces. The rubber finish is supposed to evoke the leather of the boots.

The colour description is accurate: it is a violet leaning towards blue, a nice cold colour. I finally like it very much, it reminds me of the colour of Eeyore, my favourite Disney character!

On the nails, it is slightly darker than in the bottle. On the other hand, the label on the packaging leans more towards red. I wear two coats on the photos, without top coat to keep the finish.

As for the rubber finish... It is a matte, satiny finish. I could see a "grainy" finish on some nails, quite nice. The varnish lass better than my mattified varnished (I usually use a mattifying top coat). I have been wearing it for two days without major problem. This finish, however, does not last because it becomes shiny and smooth when exposed to grease (cream, oil, and simply the other fingers). The cap is also rubbery, it seems to be a limited edition.

All in all I really like this nail polish, more than I expected to. And when putting it back with my other nail polishes, I had an idea... For next week!

Last but not least, I find this varnish to be nicely assorted with the Freak collection (I will make a post about Freak, the Illamasqua fragrance, next week).
